"I like how Addy teaches. She forces you to go outside your boundaries and attend events you wouldn't go to..." "Quality, relaxed exposure to the arts."
Jennifer “Addy” Adkins has bachelors and masters degrees in English Literature from Arizona State University. Originally from the Seattle, Washington area, she has traveled extensively around the world learning about new and different cultures and art forms. After graduating from ASU in 1999, she moved to Paris, France where she discovered how enriching and significant the arts could be in someone’s life. Later, while working at the renowned Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University, she created a seminar called Cultural Encounters in hopes that students would be exposed to the arts in an educational environment where questions and ideas could be asked and shared. After seven extremely successful semesters, she decided to take the concept to the wider community in hopes of breaking down the traditional barriers that the arts are for “those” people. The Cultural Encounters Club engages the community in the arts through a fun, interactive, and educational environment.

Addy has recognized that the Phoenix Metropolitan arts community has tremendous value and yet is underutilized. Through her company, people can discover the arts on all sides by offering opportunities to go behind the scenes, meet artists, and really digest and integrate the material into their lives. The arts do not exist in a vacuum, but rather can live to make our lives fuller and more colorful.
